Letter for Your Congressman
April 15, 2002
Hon. XXXXXXXX (Rep. or Senator)
Dear ________________,
I am a constituent. I respectfully request with all due force and
urgency an early response.
On February 27 and 28, 2002, the We The People Foundation for
Constitutional Education sponsored a Truth-In-Taxation Hearing at the
Washington Marriott. Expert, credentialed professionals (ex-IRS counsel
and agents, constitutional and tax attorneys and tax law researchers)
publicly testified, under oath, to almost 500 questions directly
challenging the legal authority of the IRS to force employers to
withhold the tax from the paychecks of their employees and to force
Americans to file a tax return and to pay the tax.
The formal record of the hearing removes any doubt that this nation's
income tax system is unconstitutional in its origin, fraudulent and
abusive in its operation, and ultimately repugnant to every principle of
equal justice, due process of law and personal liberty that we cherish
as Americans. Attached is a copy of the full audio/video/text/transcript
record of the Hearing.
Originally, experts from IRS and DOJ were to have their experts
attend the hearing and answer the questions, and Congressman Roscoe
Bartlett was to chair the hearing. However, they reneged on their
agreements. In fact, over the last three years, our federal government
has ignored the Peoples’ Petition for Redress and has evaded every
opportunity to publicly discuss and debate the issues. At some point,
evasion equals admission. We seem to have reached that point. What’s
worse is we have a constitutional crisis developing.
I respectfully request you to do one of two things by June 1, 2002.
Move to direct the Department of Justice and the Internal Revenue
Service to, 1) stop forcing employers to withhold and stop forcing
Americans to file an income tax return and 2) place a moratorium on
civil and criminal prosecutions of income tax laws and furlough the
people currently in prison on convictions of failure to file income tax
returns. OR, in the alternative, schedule a full congressional hearing,
requiring IRS and DOJ to answer the questions and address the evidence.
As you are keenly aware, God created man with unalienable rights, and
man, in turn created government to help secure and safeguard those
rights. Ignoring a proper petition for redress and forcing the People to
pay an income tax is inconsistent with our founding principles.
Sincerely,
